See also my message on George MANDERSON on this forum. I have been unable to trace John Hume MANDERSON's father, George, before residence in Dunbar--the family likely came from elsewhere. All of these MANDERSONs could have a common origin--many in Haddington-East Lothian area. Have been to Haddington. A beautiful town. There is a place--not even what I would consider a village--called Manderston, outside of Duns in East Lothian, that might be the MANDERSON home area. The Mormons have info from the parish registers of the Church of Scotland (Presbyterian, not Episcopal). You might check them if you haven't already checked IGI. The records that they have are index of marriages and christenings. From them, you can order microfilm of actual records. The actual records of christenings will show sponsors of children--usually relatives--that help indicate family relationships. These records may also show father's occupation and place of residence of family and sponsors. Also, the full records--not indexed, of course--also show some deaths (purchase of mortcloths for deceased).
