My direct ancestor is Johann Gottfried Mang of Trippstadt who arrived in Philadelphia on 3 Sept 1739. My brother Gary posted my father's research some time ago. Mang became Mong in the colonies. That research listed a Georg Nicholas Mang as the son of Gottfried, but my research isn't verifying that connection.

I find a Georg Nicholas Mang of Krickenbach marrying Maria Catherine Kuntz of Lemberg in Hoheinod on 21 Feb 1747. His father is listed simply as Jakob. We have a Zill Jakob in that generation, but I can't find a record of his family, if he had one, although he lived in Krickenbach. Georg Nicholas' father could be your Jakob (and possibly my Zill Jakob). I also have the grandfather as Georg Nicholas which follows right in the pattern of naming the firstborn son after the grandfather.

Georg Nicholas of the 1747 marriage, I believe, is the Revolutionary War Soldier, Nicholas Mong listed by the DAR index on page 474, but I don't have a record of his arrival in the colonies.

Would like to compare notes with anyone who has information about this time period of Mangs.
