Louis Maniere, b. about 1755 in France

Would like any information concerning Louis Maniere (spelling varies) who came to America about 1775 to fight in the revolution. He was a good friend of Lafayette. My great-grandfather, Russell Lafayette Squier, was named in honor of the Marquis as a tribute.
Louis Maniere married Rebecca Miner; their son apparently changed his name to match his mother's, and the resultant family has always carried the name "Miner."

I'd appreciate hearing from any of you!
Aileen
