I am also descended from Patrick Manley (b 1805) and Mary (sometimes called Emily)through his daughter, Margaret. She married Philip McManus in Jo Daviess County, IL in 1868. Just thought I'd contribute some of the research I've done:

*Another researcher from a Jo Daviess, IL Manley line that came from Crockawaddy Glebe, County Fermanagh says that our Patrick is also of the same family, but I didn't get any documentation.

*Patrick Manley died in Jo Daviess County 1865-1870. He was listed in the 1865 state census but not 1870. I've looked for a death record but haven't been able to find one. He didn't seem to have a will, although his oldest son James, who died at age 26 without children, did.

*Patrick Manley's date of natualization was 18 May 1858 in Jo Daviess County. I've seen an abstract of the record, but not the actual record. The original is likely to contain his more specific place of origin such as county or town.

*Because his daughter Margaret was born in IRE in 1840, I've looked for her death record for a more specific birth location but could not find one. She died in Nebraska.

There seems to be a lot of researchers descended from this line. Hopefully one we can all pool our information and find the family's place of origin in Ireland.
