Thanks for your prompt reply. In the 1881 census the Gaunt family were living in several houses in Calverley Cum Farsley . One of their neighbours was a Manners family and this has made me wonder if my missing link is connected to the Gaunt family ?
James Gaunt and his wife Martha Sears had ten children, all born in Alcester, Warwickshire, where he worked as a reporter on the local paper. They were married in Evesham in September 1862. His parents were Samuel Manners and Elizabeth Gaunt. Samuel was born about 1808 in Scotland, possibly Dundee ? He married Elizabeth Gaunt in Leeds in Dec 1837. Samuel and Elizabeth had three boys, James Gaunt 1844, Edward 1846 and Richard 1848.

What more do you have on the family ?
