I have been helping my son research our family tree. My motherís name was Marjorie Gwendoline Manners and my father Cecil Sapseid. I knew she had an uncle, Charles Manners, in Hong Kong so was following up that line. In doing so I came across your request for details about Charles but that was some time ago, in 2002. I am hoping that you are still using the same email address you have registered with the Genforum genealogy site.

I have found out from following your information about the Hong Kong & Kowloon Wharf & Godown Company that he was an Internee at Kowloon Hotel. I also found records of his death and have a picture of his memorial stone in Stanley Cemetery.

You mention your Uncle John. As a 9 year old child in 1951 we were on holiday in England from Lusaka, Northern Rhodesia (now Zambia) and I remember meeting my Uncle Billie Ė my motherís brother, and his two children, John and Diane ??. For some reason my mother never kept in touch with her brother and that is the only time I met the family.

Does any of this seem familiar history to you?
