Dear Mrs. Thom,
This may or may not be a semi-related inquiry re. family genealogy. I have been in the process of research on international musicians. I had come across the name Cecil Sapseid while researching some So. African composers. I attempted to find out more about this musician-songwriter whose name appears on some notable pieces of music. The only fact I've ever been able to unearth is that Cecil Sapseid was born in the U.K., circa 1905-not sure of the exact birthdate. He is/was not a member of PRS-BASCA, the U.K. music society, nor of SAMRO, the So. African composers union. Thus, these societies had no data on him in their membership departments.
Perhaps this Cecil Sapseid was indeed your father ? If so, maybe you can kindly inform me of his date of passing and the city in which he died? I'm surprised I was not able to locate an obituary for him, as his accomplishments in music should have warranted a sizable notice. But then, many versatile and prolific composers and musicians have not been accorded the recognition they deserved, even when they passed.
Thank you very much for your time. If you wish, you can answer this via my private email address, though it may be of interest to some here in the genealogy website.
