So happy to hear from you. We can trace Henry Herbert via the IGI main file. The marriage of Robert and Elizabeth and their eight children are documented on the IGI (Lucy, Russell, Frances Augusta, Elizabeth, George, William Henry, Henry Herbert, Maria Welhelmina).
Yes, it is our George Manners who married Charlotte and had 4 children. He was the editor of the Satirist. As well, he wrote and produced the play "Edgar", at Covent Garden in 1806. He was British Consul in Boston from 1819-1839. He then moved to Cobourg. We have been to Cobourg. We are busy documenting his life and family. Charlotte's last name Hughers is new to us. Thank you. Any more tidbits would be great.
We presume that Lord William and Corbetta never married. From a Toronto Library souce we note the following. "Lord William Manners, born Nov. 13,1697, who was elected member of parliament for county of Leicester, in 1714,1722,and 1727; and for Newark, in 1734,1741,and 1747. And on July 25th,1727, was appointed one of the Gentlemen of his Majesty's Bedchamber, having served him in the same post when Prince of Wales (George II). William was killed by a fall from his horse April 23, 1772." Lord William's and Corbetta's first son John married Lady Louisa Tollemache of Dysart.
One of our current thrusts of research is to gather more information about Robert. We will be back looking at the British Army Lists.
Looking forward to hearing from you again.
