Hi Ralph.Yeah, I saw other posts you've made on this subject.I can understand your frustrations.I am facing a somewhat similar situation where I will probably end up going the other direction - having had my ancestor adopted by Alexander Manning and the odds are likely that he was actually from the Quick lineage.I've told my oldest living relative (my aunt) and while it isn't important to her I also get the sense that she'd be fine if I just dropped it.But genealogy in my mind is about who I descended from.If I descend from the Quick lineage that doesn't mean that I will ever consider myself anything but a Manning but I don't think she understands that or looks at it that way.I have not seen any David Manning's in my line but I also have really not been pursuing my Manning line since I'm not sure it is truly my lineage. While genealogy is important to those of us pursuing our ancestry I find the majority of people don't share our passion and commitment to know the truth.Feel free to email if you have any questions - [email protected] luck, Mike Manning (not Quick)
