My Great-grandfather was a one N Manion and his father was
a two N Mannion.I have no idea why.My father-in-law said his family changed names by one letter dropping it or changing it just so they wouldn't receive each others mail since they (bros etc.) lived in the same area.I just discovered Robert Paris Mannion m. Eliza Henry in IL in 1854.He's my Great-great-grandfather.
