This is my first visit to this website and I find the dialogue very interesting. My father, Ernst Mantei, was born in Poland in 1923 and emmigrated to Canada in 1951. There are a number of our relatives in Canada,U.S.,Germany and Poland. I will be seeing Dad this Easter weekend and will get more information. In the meantime, can you provide some genealogical information on your families, names, birthdates, etc.? Perhaps we can start to piece this together. I have heard the name Mantei has been traced back to Italy and France during the time of the Hugenots.
By the way, I have a sister named Sigrid ( and a brother named Werner ). Look forward to hearing from you.
