Ron, The records I am looking at, census records, report him as being born in New York, living in Illinois as many or all of his children were born in Illinois, and dying in Iowa. I do believe him to be the son of Jeremiah Maples who is the son of William Comstock, however, I have nothing to prove that. My other concern is I have one census record showing him married to a Paulina (maiden name I believe to be Millet) and another census stated his wife's name is Delilah but the childrens names are the same. I also have census records both stating Paulina is married to a Daniel D and then a David D. Both these records state Daniel and David were born in New York in the approximate same year, married to a Paulina with children born in Illinois. As you can tell I am an amateur family historian who is trying to figure this out and gain experience. I must say I am really getting the impression that hand written census records can end up with several mistakes in them. Anyway, any information, help or advice is appreciated. Thanks so very much!
