Hi Terry,

I don't know if this is same person or not but I have been looking for info on my ancestor, John Thomas Maples, born 1847 in Mississippi, died 1887, Hays County, Texas. I found him in the Lavaca County, Texas census, 1870, he was working on a farm/ranch and a Fonzo Maples was also listed, if memory serves he was a couple years younger....I also found reference to a Fonzo/Alfonso Maples back in the Mississippi census, 1880 I believe.

Perhaps there is a tie in, I understand that John Thomas Maples also had a younger sister and lived in Mississippi.

Do you think there is a tie-in....do these names and circumstances sound familiar?
