I think he migrated to Alabama from Connecticut. Married Sara Williams (daughter of Daniel Williams)in 1823 in Bibb Co., Alabama. He owned a store and was postmaster in Maplesville, AL until at least 1825 (town named after him). No further record. He COULD be the father of of James S. Maples who was born unknown in 1826 and was married in East Baton Rouge, La unknown
