In Reply to: JOSEPH MARCHAL 1852 I HAVE ORIG. REC. by norma kirchhofer of 65

Norma, This is a real help to me! I wonder if you can answer the following:

The 1880 Census (2nd Ward, Indianapolis, Marion, Indiana, pg 57C) shows Charlotte MARCHAL with children Emma L, Friedrich, Rudolph, Theodore and Hattie. However the Head of Household is said to be Philip (age 54, b. Bavaria), not Joseph.

Are Philip and Joseph the same person, or did Charlotte marry twice? I don't have the actual census record, only the LDS info, which is incomplete. I have census subscription at but was unable to view this particular page.

Any help would be much appreciated!
