Hi Margaret,
Good to hear from you. Since posting my message I have learned that Epifanio Mariani was born 1 Sept 1882 in Komiza, Viz to Frank Mariani & Madeline Marinkovich (per Los Angeles Co Death Certificate for Epifania Mariani- note mispelled given name).Don't have any information about siblings he may have had. He married Mary M? Stecka (Marie Stika on some WA documents & possibly the Mary Stecka on the 1910 Niagara Falls, NY census) 31 Mar 1913 in Tacoma, WA.They had 2 children, a daughter E Mariani born 9 May 1914,& a son, Antonne Frank Mariani born 2 Oct 1917, both in Tacoma, Pierce Co, WA per the WA Birth Index. I don't have any other information about the daughter but Antonne Frank Mariani died 8 May 1988 in Tacoma, Pierce Co, WA and is buried at the New Tacoma Cemetery in Tacoma, WA. Epifanio & Mary divorced apparently & she next married Dominick Marinkovich about 1917 and later Matt A Vodanovich, Sr about 1925. Mary died 1 May 1983 in Tacoma. She is buried in Calvary Cemetery in Tacoma, Piece Co, WA as Mary Vodanovich.Epifanio moved to Southern California & lived in the San Pedro area, Los Angeles Co, CA. I don't know if he remarried but his Los Angeles County Death Certificate indicates his information was reported by his wife- though we only have information about Mary mentioned above so don't know if she reported the information on the Death Certificate or possibly a 2nd wife.Epifanio died 30 Dec 1948 in Torrance, Los Angeles Co, CA and is buried in an unmarked grave in Holy Cross Cemetery located in Culver City, Los Angeles Co, CA. Per the cemetery records, his wife is not buried with him. That's all I have but it certainly would seem likely that Frank, Epifanio's father, and your Joseph are related- either as brothers or possibly cousins. One other bit of information- Epifanio was listed on the passenger list when he came to America as Marian Epifania (given name as surname & surname as given name) so he is difficult to locate on those records.
Thanks again for your information & hopefully we can build on this with the help of others.
