Gabriel Markley Homestead
The Gabriel Markley homestead built in 1813 by Levi Cantrel was bulldozed this past fall. I am visiting Ohio over the holidays and went out to the family graves at the Summerford TWP Cemetery. I discovered the old two story brick gone. It was one of the first brick buildings built in central ohio and one of the oldest still standing in Madison county. I tried to find out from the cemetery grounds keeper the details but no one was around. All that is left is a pile of bricks.Joe Zimmerman had posted some old Madison County Democrat articles on the place in the MyFamily Forum " Descendants of Adam Markley ca.1724"The article and photos were in the 50th anniversary edition of the Madison County Democrat written by Gabriel's grandson H.H. Prugh.
The graves of the Markley's, Sutton's, Soward's Prugh's Potee's and Knox's and Wilson's all were still in good shape. I will try to find out the details , if possible this week.
