Gearge Henry Marling was my grandfather. He was born at Wallsend, Northumberland on 28 February 1879.
Served in Northumberland Fusiliers in the Boer War and was taken prisoner-of war at tyhe battle of Peddersberg.
Married Jane Gibson in 1905 and had three sons and two daughters namely, Thomas, James, George, Jane and Mary.
Re-enlisted from Barnsley at outbreak of WW1 and was killed in France 18 September 1915.
