Was your William H. Marquis a resident of Stafford County, Virginia?I need information on the Stafford County Marquisses, including William H. and Samuel. In 1834 R.C.L. Moncure, court appointed commissioner, sold a saw and grist mill to Samuel marquis (born c.1780).A chancery cause styled Layton Y. Atkins vs Samuel Marquess and William H. Marquess resulted in the sale of the mill to Lyman Kellogg.I would like to know a bit more about the two Marquis men and if they were brothers or father and son.Thanks.
