You may have discovered much information regarding the Marrie's since the post was originally written, I found your message while :surfing" the net.
My name is frank Marrie (actually Francis) and I am from Sharpsville, Pa.. Though there is nothing specific I can provide you I may be able to assist your search in some round about way.
My father (deceased 1954 at the age of 39 in an accident) was John Joseph Marrie the son of John and Katherine Marrie(maided name Katherine Lyddon). John (my grandfather) also died at the age of 39 around 1918 or so in an industrial accident at the Sharon Steel or at that time the Carnege Steel Corp. They resided on Pierce avenue in Sharpsville. There was also a son Edward who died around 1985.
I found it interesting that Mary Ellen Marrie married Austin Murray (who I remember when I was younger) since Katherine Lydonn Marrie married John (Johnny) Murray following the death of John Marrie. I believe Johnny and Austin were brothers but perhaps cousins. Johnny Murray (whom I always knew as my grandfather) and John Marrie were best friends in the steel mill. Johnny and Katherine went on to have 4 children, Rita (Bateman), Sharon, PA. ; Eileen (McDowell), deceased; Francis Murray (North Olmsread, Oh.); and Bill Murray (Sharpsville).
A neighbor of Johnny and Katherine was Bobby and Sarah Malia (both well into their 70's when I was a child) who I knew as Uncle Bobby (he was very hard to understand due to his heavy brough ??). Their son who was my Godfather) was Walter Malia (nick named Bird). Walt died sometime in the 70's or early 80's. Posibly, but I'm not sure, Katherine Mahone's maiden name may have been Malia. Her son Ron Mahone (Mercer, PA) is a cousin of ours but I never knew the link.
I' don't know where you live but in the early days Sharpsville was (and is) a very small town comprised then of mostly Irish and Italian. And most Irish were all related (as were the Italians) in some way, There were the Malia's, Joyce's, Lally's, Dever's, Murray's, etc. who are still there and I'm sure there must be tons of info. available. A former mayor, Pete Joyce, I understand has researched that side of the "tree". My father John (Jack) also had a Cousin Martin (Marty) who moved to Houston, Tx. back in the 40's and I know he has children still in that vacinity. Since Martin is your grandfather's name this may be of real importance. One of his sons was named Frank and I do know that he still lived in Houston in the 90's.
Another tid-bit. In the 1950's we had a neightbor (no relation that I ever could find) named Marrie. Father named Jack as well. 2 sons still in the area named James and Jack. The mothers name was Bridget but her maiden name was Gill.
I don't know if this will be of any help but hopefully there may be some information you can use. If you have any questions I will check this site periodically. I would be very interested in learning of your extended findings.
