Ethel, I am researching the Mothershead/Mothershed family line, and was wondering if you know the history behind the origins of the surname Marsalis? The reason I am asking, is because my grandfather agreed to change his name to Marsalis at the request of his uncle. It is supposed to be a family name, but I have been unable to prove it. My family lived in Mississippi as well as Alabama, Louisiana, Georgia, the Carolinas and Texas. Any information would be of help. Thank you so much. Diana Eardley
