Hi there! I could use some help identifying J.A. Martiny and his wife Magdalena.

HERE'S WHAT I HAVE RECORDS FOR:
I am searching for a J.A. Martiny born c. 1827 in Prussia/Germany, and a blacksmith. He married Magdalena (maiden name unknown) b. July 1830, who is listed in the 1880 census computer database as L.W. born in Prussia (Ancestry.com). However, a look at the actual record reveals first initial M. born in France and the 1900 census reveals first name Magdalena.

THEIR DESCENDANTS:
The 1880 census reveals J.A. and Magdalena had two children, both born in Alabama: John (b. 1863) and William (Willie) (b. 1865). She is listed later in the 1900 census as a widow living with son William, who was a druggist, and his wife Bettie E. (b. 1874 in Texas) and daughter Ruby A. (b. Nov 1895). Her son, John, was my great-great grandfather. He is listed in the 1910 census as living in El Paso, TX, as a carpenter married to wife Ida A. (b. abt 1870) in Texas. They had a daughter, Zora (b. abt 1891) who was my great grandmother. She married Eugene Barton/Borton (b. 1889 in TX).

SPECULATION:
There are records of a J. Martiny entering the U.S. at the New Orleans Port from Le Havre on 4 Mar 1850, with apparently no other family in tow. Five years later, on 26 Jan 1855 a Magdalena Martiny entered the US through the same route, and also apparently alone. I am wondering if these could be my J.A. and Magdalena Martiny.

Any help anyone can offer with this would be very much appreciated.
