I am searching for the marriage of ERNST FREDERICK JULIUS MARTINI(MARTINIE) and SUSANNAH LOUDERBACK(LAUTERBACH). The marriage would have occurred around 1780 as their first child, Jonathan Martinie was born 5 November 1781 in Virginia. Ernst was born 30 May 1753 in Gandersheim, Germany, and came to America in 1776 with the 2nd Division of the Brunswick Troops. He deserted in Virginia 25 January 1780. (I assume it was around Charlottesville as that is where the Convention Army would have been interned at that time.) Susannah Louderback, who was born born abt. 1750 in either Frederick or Shenandoah Co., Va., was the daughter of Johann David Lautenbach (Louderback) and Maria Elisabeth Klein who are supposed to have married 16 July 1745 in Lititz, Pa. I am interested in obtaining proof of this Martinie/Louderback marriage and in corresponding with any Martinie descendants. Ernest and Susannah had only two known children - JONATHAN(my ancestor) and DAVID. The family moved from Virginia to Henry Co., Ky., where Ernst died 25 Sept. 1832 and Susannah died 12 July 1838. Jonathan and David also died in Henry Co. The Martinie name has died out on Jonathan's side; however, David's descendants are scattered throughout the United States. Many of David's descendants went to Kansas and Tenn. Thus far, I have found that every one who spells their name as "Martinie" is descended from Ernst!
