I am researching another Martyr family; that of John James Martyr, of Goulburn and Maitland, NSW, born 1819 in either Greenwich, Kent, or Nova Scotia. No apparent relationship to your Ernest John. I see the death entry for your Ernest John in the Victorian Death Index - registered 1936, M Park; which I take to be Middle Park, a suburb of Melbourne. Father is listed as Edw., mother Evelyn Kennedy (as you posted). There is no death entry for her in Victoria through to 1985 and Ernest John is the only Martyr for Middle Park. There are 30 in all for 1921-1985 and I'll send them if you want. Question: You wrote he was born North Sydney Nova Scotia. Do I read that correctly as North Sydney in Nova Scotia?

For any other Martyr reseachers: I am trying to find it John James Martyr and George Martyr, both surveyors in Goulburn in the 1870s, were related. Mick Mecham
