Michael - thank you for your info. I don't know where either of Ernest's parents died other than it was not in Austalia. It is possible that Ernest was born in England as he served for a time in the British Royal Navy, we have copies of his service record. However there is anecdotal evidence to support that his early years (until age 15-17) were possibly spent in the North Sydney area in Nova Scotia. The info on his death cert. was provided by his widow and based on their marriage cert. plus info he had provided to her during their brief marriage. My feeling is that Ernest's family must have travelled elsewhere in Canada or USA and, as he apparently had no brothers, the name has disappeared. Finding any record of his parents seems to be the only way to ID the family at this stage.
