Art,
I saw your posting on the Mason family.I might try to order one or both of the Mason books because I have been at a dead end on my Mason line for 25 years.
My endline is James D. (probably Dexter) Mason born 1 Sep 1809, in Oneida Co., NY.I know that he married a Rivana Teft and had several children. My line comes through his son Jerome Dexter Mason.James took the family and settled in Ohio, in the 1840's.
The only other clue that I have is that the name Dexter has been passed down for 7 generations.Jerome Dexter Mason was the 4th; James D. is probably the 5th.So I am kinda looking for another Dexter, if the tradition is true.
In your reading of these Mason books, do you recall a James D. Mason?I thought that the Alison that you replied to might have the brother to James because she had a William born in Oneida at the same time period.
Anyway, I am at a loss and hope you might be able to shed some light.
