Hi Dann,
"CAPTAIN BRIANT RANSOM
of Poultney, Rutland, Vermont
Volunteered to go to Plattsburg [NY] September, 1814, and served 2 days in command of company raised in Poultney.Ref: Book 52, AGO Page 147."
Source is "State of Vermont ROSTER OF SOLDIERS IN THE WAR OF 1812-14", prepared and published under the direction of Herbert T. Johnson, The Adjutant General, 1933, page 349.Sorry, I do not know if this soldier is related to your RANSOM family.
Also, these soldiers are listed without a town of residence listed: Ami RANSON, R.C.; Moses RANSOM; Samuel RANSOM; and Warren RANSON.If you would like me to transcribe any of their military data, please email me directly at jnrose at webtv.net
