Celia Mason, Edmond Kirk and Henry Kirk of Gibson County, Indiana
I am looking for any information on the family of Celia Mason, born about 1754, possibly in Frederick, Maryland or Virginia. She married Henry Kirk who was born about 1755 in Virginia. They were married in Virginia, about 1780.They had one daughter Mary Kirk, born 1787 in Georgia, a son Hiram born 1798 in Washington County, Kentucky, and a son Edmond Kirk, born about 1801 in Washington County, Kentucky. Both Henry Kirk and Celia Mason died in Gibson County, Indiana, as did my great-great-great-great grandfather Edmond Kirk. This information is very vague, since there is also information that shows that Henry Kirk also married Mary Ann Jones, the daughter of Mason Jones and Mary Ann Ashby, about 1807.
There is some very vague information on the LDS website that says that Celia Mason, was the daughter of Benjamin Mason and Susan Gray, and it shows Benjamin's father to be George Mason, married to Joanna Surface; but I can't find any information anywhere else to support that.
It is interesting to note that Mary Ann Jones was the daughter of Frances Mason, who was the daughter of George Mason and Sarah Taliaferro; which could mean that Celia Mason was a relative. Mary Ann Jones first married Jilson Howell in 1789, then Hugh McCary in 1801, then married Henry Kirk in 1807.
I would like to know if anyone knows who Celia Mason's parents were, and from what Mason line.It would be very interesting to know if Celia is related to the George Mason who wrote the "Bill of Rights."
