Bequeaths to:
1. Richard Mason --son (eldest)
-to have tract of land in Tuckahoe Creek where he now dwells called "Dudly's Chance"
but since resurveyed and called "Tabithy's Fortune" cont. 184 1/4/ acres
-Negro woman "Rener"
2. William Winchester Mason --son (second son)
-all that part of the several tracts of land which lie to the north ease side of a line drawn
from the end of the 13th line in "Winchester's Farm" which is the end of the 2nd line in
"Clouds's Hermitage" and thence. . . to the end of the 1st line of "Ephraim's Hope"
and thence. . . .until it intersects a tract of land called "Abner's Outlet" and the lands
devised being part of "Winchester's Farm"--50 acres and "Clouds's Hermitage" cont.
5 acres and ½ acre of land that the testator purchased from Thomas Roe and part of
"Hasker's Adventure" and part of a tract of land called "Addition"--to have with the
liberty of putting a ditch through any of the branch that testator now owns for the
use of draining the marsh lands
-one Negro man "Ledg"
-to have wagon and gears, sorrel horse, bay stallion, the old black mare and the bay
mare purchased from James Ginn
-to make use of 1/3 of the apple orchard for 10 years on the testator's dwelling plantation and a privilege of making use of ½ of the buildings until 01/01/1778
-to have 100 acres of land being part of "Copes's Range" and an adjoining tract of land
Called "Providence" cont. 77 1/4 acres and also 11 acres of a tract of land called
"The Rambles" on the condition that he pays 100 pounds current money of Maryland
to his sisters as part of their legacies---out of his own estate
-should either of sons die w/out issue then the other is to have land left to him
-remainder of estate to be divided among widow and children
-named executor of the will
3. Tabithy Mason --wife
-to have the dwelling plantation and all land on the south west side of a line drawn
across for William Winchester Mason being part of "Winchester's Farm" and
"Ephraim's Hope" and part of a tract of land called "Addition" and 9 acres purchased
from Philemon Thomas--to have during her widowhood or natural life
-one white horse called "Beaver" and riding chaise
-to have Negroes "Doctor" "Pompey" and "Silvy"
4. Thomas Mason --son (third son)
-to have all lands lying on the south west side of the line drawn across for William
Winchester Mason--being the land left to widow--to have at her remarriage or decease
-Negro "Timm"
5. Ann Mason --daughter (eldest daughter)
-to have the sum of 75 pounds current money of Maryland when she comes of age 18
or on the day of her marriage
-Negro girl "Ruth"--should son William W. choose to have "Ruth" then he is to pay
Ann the sum of 50 pounds current money of Maryland one year after testator's decease
6. Mary Mason --daughter (second daughter)
-the sum of 75 pounds current money of Maryland
-Negro girl "Esther" to have when Mary comes of age 18 or on day of her marriage
7. Abigail Mason --daughter (third daughter)
-Negro girl "Minta"
-to have the sum of 75 pounds current money and to be paid her legacies when she
comes of age 18 or at day of marriage
8. Rebecca Mason --daughter (fourth daughter)
-to have the sum of 75 pounds current money of Maryland
-Negro boy "Paul" to be given her legacies when she comes of age 18
Codicil to the will:
1. Thomas Mason --son
-to have all that tract of land called "Tilghman's Gift Resurveyed" and whereas in the
original will the testator had left sundry lands to Thomas, now his will is that Thomas
is to have none of them but instead be given to William Winchester Mason, Jr.
2. William Winchester Mason --son
-he and Thomas are to pay to testator's daughters Ann, Mary, and Rebecca 300 pounds
current money of Maryland
