Hi, my name is William R. Massey and I'm from Tennessee.I descend from Hezekiah2 Massey, brother of Richard2 Massey. That's been pretty well substantiated by matching up others' DNA.
You pointed out that it's questionable that "the Massey brothers" were actually the sons of Richard1.I'm in full agreement with you although, as the author Massey in Florida pointed out, the naming patterns seem to indicate that it's true. What I question is that the Richard1 Massey in early colonial Virginia is actually the son of Sir Edward in England. It's fun to speculate and "wish" about that, but no proof has ever been established, at least as far as I'm concerned.I wish we could convince some Masseys from Cheshire County, England, to take a DNA test to establish close linkage with American Masseys.
