Kay,
I sure wish I could be of more help. I believe that all the Matchett's are related in some way but how is the question. I believe they came to Florida in the 1840's. My grgrgrandmother was Annie Matchett Caruthers. She was the daughter of John William Matchett and Nancy Collins. I believe they all came into Florida together with the Fussell's. All three names are common in Sumter County Florida. I have been there and tried to find more about them but not much luck. The Fussell's are easier. The Caruthers I have traced back to Burke Co. GA. The Matchett's I believe were in Duplin County, NC. I'm sorry I am of so little help.
Do keep in touch and maybe we will be able to help each other.
