My husband is Michael Matchett, whose father was born near Houston,Texas, James Matchett. We've been trying to find their ancestry.... Neither Michael nor his father knows if they are French, Irish, English, etc. The name "Matchett" is French in itself, correct? Though the more I've searched, the more I've discovered many Matchett's came from Ireland and England....
