Thank you Diana, I will look through all my notes for any clues. I have files and files of the stuff LOL!!! Have you any oral family history that suggests your family have origins here in Ulster? Most American Matchetts are Ulster-Scots, or Scotch-Irish as you call us, but some have also come directly from England. There are those connected to Leicestershire eg.The German speaking comment was interesting and I will look at my notes re the Stiles/Matchett family for from memory I believe they had German connections.
