My Great, great grandfather Richard was a farmer and married to a Mary Totton and lived in Ireland - we think near Portadown. This information taken from the marriage registry entry in Scotland for his son John. I do not have Richard's exact age. About myself, I am Scottish but now living in London. My great grandfather John moved to the Glasgow area and so created essentially a Scottish family. My own grandfather was also called Richard. I have a great 1920 photograph taken in Glasgow of a Matchett wedding showing John and his family, children and grand children, which I could send you. John was very prosperous, first being a tea mearchant and then having a paper factory.
