Hi, I'm interested in the Matchett family. I have a Rachel Matchett who married Simon Griffith/s of Granard, Longford, Ire. We believe he was a postmaster in Granard. Their eldest child, Richard, was born c. 1810. We think Rachel was from Cavan.

Rachel emigrated to Australia in 1859 on board the vessel "Queen of England". Her husband Simon was not with her, so we presume he died in Ireland. She emigrated to rejoin sons that had previously emigrated to Australia.

Do you know of this Rachel Matchett?

Other children of Rachel Matchett and Simon Griffith/s were:
1816 William
1821 Simon
1824 Thomas
1825 Elizabeth
1826 Rachel
(years circa)
