Hi Robyne, this Cavan Matchett branch has proven to be quite elusive. I know that there are many descendants of theirs living at present along the Miramichi River in New Brunswick, Canada. In Cavan they are mentioned in the Flax Grower's List and also they are mentioned as Anglican clergy and suffering persecution, for being Protestant, left Ireland to find peace. There are references in newspapers at that time to them being harrassed by neighbours. Our oral history in the family claims them to be closely related to the Co Armagh Matchetts but so far I have been unable to find physical paper evidence of this. I have tried so very hard to find this link and will continue to do so. I did find evidence that the two branches ie Matchetts of Cavan and Armagh were together in the New World as one was in the church congregation of the other. All the names you mention are all repeated Matchett names of Co Armagh also. I will carry on my search so please keep in touch as new info does surface regularly as more and more Matchetts get in touch and add their puzzle pieces to teh jigsaw. Every tiny piece is precious and can be a vital clue.
