The only info I have on Richard Matchett is that he migrated from County Wexford under the leadership of Thomas Staples in 1823 (which would validate the wedding date of 1827 since he married after his arrival in Canada). My grandfather left a note that this Richard (his ancestor) was a cousin to a family (3 brothers) of Matchetts who had arrived in South Carolina in the early 1700's. One of those (or one of their sons) was another Richard Matchett who married Mary Cole and lived in NJ. The others settled in S Carolina and Massachusetts. I have detailed info on their descendants also but nothing preceding that. Good luck..please let me know if you find anything.
