Mathers Family Genealogy Forum
The name meanings hold interest for me. They act sort of as qualifiers. I had heard from some wanna-be heraldry firm in the US that the grass cutter of mower claim was German but all of my German friends just scratch their heads and say huh? The Ango version sounds more believable. Now I must tell you that while researching the family name at the National Archives in Washington, DC I came across someone in an early 1800's census who was decended from a Mathers widdow from Bavaria.
Boy we do get about now, don't we? Oh! One more thing about that heralry scam... I want to say Norberts. They told me about this old and ancient Mathers family Crest and got me to snooping around for history on it. Seems it was created in 1948. Life amongst the Roses can be prickly sometimes.
