Hi Melissa ~ You've probably already got the information, but I'd like to pass some along anyway. Lois Mariah Mather was the daughter of Abner and Elizabeth (Kennedy) Mather. She was married to Joseph Lawyer on October 27, 1842 in Washington County, Indiana. She named one of sons after her father, Abner. Abner Mather was a direct descendant of Reverend Richard Mather who came from England to settle in Boston in 1635. Reverend Mather and his family established the first free public school in the country in 1639. The school, Richard Mather Elementary School, is still in existence, although it's gone through a couple of renovations! Sharon
