I have a William Flowers BUSBY m. Sarah, natives of South Carolina. You might find something in this:
This is from The History of Jasper Co, Mo
William F. Busby is one of the very early settlers of Sheridan Township. He was born in Adair Co, Ky on 7/15/1835 and is the son of William and sarah Busby, natives of S.C.Mr. William F. Busby's father, Willaim served in the war of 1812 under General Jackson. He had 15 children, yourn William bing the 10th child. Our subject never received any education, as he had to work in the tabacco fields form the time he was big enough. At that time there was not one man in twenty possessed of a wagon, and few had any plows, and these were single shovel plows. They put their tabacco in hog sheads and rolled them into the river or shipping point. In 1850 he moved with his parents to Lawrence Co, engaging in farming. In 1816 he mjoined the Home Guards. After that he returned to Illinois and in March 1862, he joined the State Troops for three months, but did not receive any pay for the time he served. He then went to Kansas and staid until 1864.He settled in Jasper Co, Mo in March 1867 and lived in Preston Township 8 years, when he bough his present farm of 87 acres. He was married in 1868 to Revecca Crow, daughter of Levi and Jane Crow natives of Va and Ky.Mr. and Mrs. Busby have 7 children; Thomas L, OliveJ, Eva L, Anna E. Sarah E, Maggie and MinnieY.They also have a boy lining with them named James Crow.Mr Busby's farm is located in section 6 connected with which are all the movdrn improvements for making farming profitable. In politics he is a Republician and thkes an active interest in local affairs and in the progress of this county, and is an honest, straight forward upright man.
From Eva's daughter Joanna:Grandps fought in the Civil war because grandmother got a pension from the government. He had 2 sisters: Bil and Til.Sarah E was probably Aunt EmmaJoanna doesn't know anything about Maggie, another child was Mastin, youngest child, a son known as Uncle Buzz.
