1.JOHN5 MATLACK(WILLIAM4, GEORGE3 MATLOCK, JOHN THOMAS2, WILLIAM1) was born 1684 in Burlington County, New Jersey, and died 26 February 1765 in New Jersey..He married (1) HANNAH HORNER 20 March 1707/08 in Burlington County, New Jersey. He married (2) MARY LEE 1724.
Notes for JOHN MATLACK:
(From Curtis Miller Via email to JWM 26 Jan 2001)
Notes for John Matlack II:
"John Matlack and his wife Mary moved from the old house to a new one he had built eastward from the place of his removal and buried his wife Mary from thence about the year 1764, himself dying about 6 weeks after his wife, being unwell at the time of her interment at Haddonfield; died of old age.I was in the old house this year 1819, observed the East End fast approaching to decay nor was it then fit to be inhabited, the thumb latch of the door of the other side is where the family of John Stofford then dwelt was markedwhich I think was done by his brother 1721 - -or 1728William Smith. The wainscoating bearing evident marks of its being done by his father William or the George or both; was hip-roofed as was the practice in those days. (He had 19 by my Grandmother, she died (at Ash) buried, her husband died at same place afterwards being sick, I remember both.He (John Matlack) lived to see his youngest daughter Mary Hillman married. He use to sow 2 acres of buckwheat for greens. John Matlacks first wife died when her son John was a child.) ( The above in (brackets) is hastily written in Grandfather notes and in parts not coherent - - T.C.M )
T. ChalKley Matlack
"John Matlack settled 3 miles east of Haddonfield on the north side of the most northerly branch of the main South Branch of Cooper's Creek.Hannah Horner was daughter of Isaac and Lydia Horner, and a sister of Deliverance wife of Thomas Stokes. Note added by Curtis Miller:
The following note appears on the record under the entry for John.(OLD BIBLE REGISTER) I believe this means the information about John's children was recorded in the register. (See related notes under John's son, John III.)The Grandfather mentioned by T. ChalKley Matlack above was John's son Josiah.

is given as Elizabeth Horner. In another place it is given as Lydia Horner.
