Matta Family in Cornwall, England
Posted by: Diane Norris Date: October 31, 2001 at 14:27:19

My mother in law was Florinda Matta born in Plymouth, England in 1909. She had one brother, Frederick. Their father I believe to be Stephen Slade Matta who came from Kestle, St Ewe, Cornwall. There seems to be a cluster of Mattas in this area of Cornwall including Mevagissy and St Austell. Stephen had at least 2 brothers and they all came to Plymouth to work on barges on the River Tamar. I would be interested to hear from any one with the Matta name . I particularly am interested in how the first Mattas arrived in England. There are very few other areas in the country where you can find this name. Diane Norris.
