The Cornwall Census of 1871 shows 2 Stephen Matta's. The first, born in 1815 at St.Ewe, living in Mevagissey and married to an Eliz(abeth?)b.1820 in St.Austell, had no children at that time. The second was born in St.Ewe in 1825, also married to Eliz(abeth?)b.1824 in Gorran. The census shows 5 children; Fanny b.1850, Stephen b.1853, Martha b.1859, Richard b.1862 and Eliz(abeth?) b.1867.
Hope this is of use / interest. I am just starting to compile information, collected by my brother, about the Matta family in this area, we would also be v. interested in any information on the arrival of the family in England / Cornwall.
