Iīm living in Germany, but my family is from India, Punjab. My father reported me once, that he has been at a pilgrim site, where people leave their names in a big book.
He searched back for the name Matta and only stopped, because he didnīt have anymore time and was by then in the 13th Century. (Thatīs what he told me, but maybe it is a huge exaggeration...)

Well, but India has not been mentioned in this forum until now.. so here I am.

So, maybe the Turks brought the name to India (in Punjab there are a lot of Muslim families, mine is Hindu) and itīs next to Pakistan. I donīt know much about the history over there, it could also be the other way round.

Matta-from India.
