Can anyone here give me any pointers about the MATTERS (with an "s") surname in England?
Can anyone here give me any pointers about the MATTERS (with an "s") surname in England?My mother's side are Matters, and we had always heard they were Germans. But I traced the line back to the mid-19th century in the US Census, and according to this, my ancestor, William Matters, emigrated to the USA from England--which was a complete surprise.
