Hello, Angela.
The majority of my Mattinger branch hails from Schauernheim, Germany. The furthest I can go back is a Johannes Georg Mattinger who died in Schauernheim in 1722.

His n-th great granddaughter eventually married a Handrick and they immigrated to the US in 1853 (St. Jacob, IL). If this is part of your line, I can help fill in some gaps.
