Dear Mark,

I have a similar problem with my Paternal Grandfather and thought that I would write to suggest that if your grandfather or great grandfather had entered this country from the port of New York, www.ellisisland.org or com has the port passenger lists on the web. Specifically, it gives the name, ethnicity, place of residence, date of arrival, age, gender, marital status, ship of travel and port of departure.

I think I may have found my Paternal Grandfather in this fashion...hope this info might help you.

Good luck,

Bernie
