My Gr Gr Grandfather is also Peter Mawdsley b 18 Mar 1764 near Liverpool,Eng.His father's name was also Peter. My Gr Grandfather was Edward (1832-1907).He with Emma (24 Jul 1825) & Mary-Anne (4 Nov 1836 on The Isle of Mann) emigrated to Canada abt 1852 settling on a farm in Oro Twp,Simcoe County,Ontario. He had 7 children. I have the list if you are interested..
Probably of as much interest to you is that I inherited Peter Mawdsley's sword and spyglass inscribed
Captain
Peter Mawdsley

I assume that you are a descendent of James, eldest brother of Edward. I was more than pleased to find your article-thank you REM
