I am a Mawdsley from Mawdesley village, Lancashire. I am interested to learn of my family tree. My father was James Richard Mawdsley b.1946 d. 1991. His Father was Leonard Mawdsley (he died in the early 1980's. His Father was Richard Mawdsley who was a fruit and vegtable merchant and this was passed down to my father. I hope this may help your research. If you would like any more info on Mawdesley I would like to try be of assistance. Extra info: Mawdesley Hall is situated nr the Black Bull Pub and there used to be an underground passage connecting the two.
