Hi Phil
My mother's foster parents were Thomas Hope Mawer and his wife, Alice Childs Mawer. Both came to the U.S. in the late 20's, settled in Brooklyn. They had no children of their own and raised my mother, who was orphaned. Alice died in 1955, and Thomas returned to Lincoln in 1966. He died there in 1968 or 69. He had a brother whom I knew only as "Hap", and Hap had a son named Tom. They lived in a house called Hope Cottage, Hope being a family surname. I really have little more to go on, as I was a child when he returned to England. Do you see any connections? How about we go to direct emails from here?
Laura
